the Museum of Mythical History: Our Plan

Our Plan

Our plan starts with the support of people like you!

We are currently competing for grants. If we win we will build a small 8 -14 piece traveling, that we can take across U.S.A. gathering more support and funding. Stay tuned for more information by hitting the "Like" button on our facebook fan page by clicking here or by signing up here.

Phase 1: Awareness, Community Building, and our Online Strategy

We cannot make this project work without an audience. We know there are hundreds of Fantasy, History, Mythology, Sci-fi and Cryptozoology fans out there. The problem is demonstrating that the fan base can support a world-class museum.

Using small conventions and social media, such as our Facebook Fan Page and our Newsletter we gather important statistics which slowly prove our demographic is very wide and appeals to all ages, genders, and locations. This is why becoming a Fan or signing up for our Newsletter is so important to us. Simply Stated : the more support for the project we can demonstrate, the easier it will be for us to get funding and contributors.

Fans provide us with valuable ideas and also help us focus our content through online interactions. This encourages professional artists and writers to contribute to the project. As you can imagine, for a project this large an enormous amount of concept art, research, and writing has to be done. Running the project through social media allows professionals to contribute to the project, which helps us with our content needs and helps contributors by introducing their works to our fans. Working with professionals and other talented contributors also introduces the project to their fan base as well increasing the overall support for the project.

Working within a community allows us to be open to contributions from professionals as well as getting help and ideas from everyday people. This is a major goal of this project. We want to be open to people's ideas and suggestions. By using our discussion board, people can post any thoughts they have on the project. Working within the community also affords us the ability to work with some of most talented artists and writers in the world and builds a network in which we support each others artistic and creative endeavors.

Another way our Online Strategy and Awareness assists the museum in this phase, is by using communication through internet media outlets. That is accomplished by spreading the word through internet radio shows, podcasts, online magazines, blogs, and through fans posting about the project on their pages and on other online forums and outlets.

Phase 2: Initial Funding, Financial Planning, and Escalation Strategy.

With a reasonably sized fan base established, we will then move into Phase 2. We will move from seed funding to self-funding and small donations. The funds will cover the construction, storage and transportation of a few reasonably sized models.

If we can win larger grants in this phase we will go to small conventions and shows/ fairs across the U.S.A.  On the way to these shows we hope to stop by small towns and connect with local schools as well.

Having some real life examples of our exhibits allow us to escalate awareness by focusing on larger media outlets (t.v. interviews, newspapers) and large conventions. This will also increase the fan base, establish further credibility, and attract more donations in Phase 3.

Obtaining a wealth of ideas, thoughts, writings, and concept art from Phase 1, we now must narrow and structure the planning of the museum in a rigid way. We will focus on location, construction, final exhibits, and produce clear financial and architectural blueprints for the remainder of the project. Statistics gained from Phase 1 will go into a revised business plan and concept art will be converted into final designs for the exhibits establishing cohesion to the look and design of the museum.

Phase 3 is our Funding, Construction, Longevity and Wide Marketing Strategy.

Aftering establishing enough funding and support to move out of Phase 2 we will move to Phase 3. We will increase our fund raising efforts in a big way, including grant writing and large donations. We will start construction and begin our wide marketing strategy. Using statistics from Phase 1 and 2 we can target our marketing focus to be effective.

We will also be able to announce the completion date to our fans and media outlets established in Phase 1 and 2 to excite people about visiting. This directly supports our longevity. Having a fan base to support us when we open will be a great advantage to recouping costs early. Museums can hardly rely on donations, we-hope to be upwards of 85 percent self-reliant.

The second part to longevity is delivering a quality product that stays fresh and new. One or two wings may be devoted to seasonal myths. This will encourage repeat visitation and allow us to deliver new and fresh content to our visitors.
